Delete your On That Day account

Last updated: August 24, 2026

This page explains how to delete your On That Day account and what happens to your data. On That Day is published by Mehmet Ali Çopurlar (com.yadegar.ios on the App Store, co.onthatday.android on Google Play).

How to request account deletion

By email — available to everyone

Email support@onthatday.co from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. Say whether you want memories you added to capsules that other people will keep using to be kept (left in place, un-attributed) or removed entirely; if you don't say, we keep them.

We confirm the request against your sign-up address before acting on it, and we action emailed requests within 30 days.

This route works whatever device you use, and it is the route to use if you have lost your recovery passphrase and can no longer sign in anywhere.

From inside the app — iPhone, iPad and Android

If you are signed in, you can delete your account without contacting us:

  1. Open On That Day.
  2. Go to Account.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Choose what happens to memories you added to capsules that other people will keep using — leave them in place, un-attributed, or remove them entirely.
  5. Confirm. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

There is no grace period and no recovery window: once you confirm, it is done.

If you are the only person who can run a capsule, the app tells you before you confirm, and names the capsules — deleting your account deletes those capsules for everyone in them.

What is deleted

Immediately, and irreversibly, when you confirm:

Capsules where you were the only owner are deleted in full — every memory, every stored file, and all membership, invitation and event records belonging to them.

Capsules that other people will continue to use are not deleted. What happens to memories you added there is the choice you make in step 4 above. In either case, the right to run the capsule passes to the longest-standing remaining owner, so a capsule is never left with nobody able to manage it.

Permanent removal of the underlying records runs on an automated cleanup that executes hourly, so it normally completes within 24 hours of your request.

What is kept, and for how long

A note on your capsule content

Photos, videos, voice notes, letters, captions and any location you attached to a memory are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded. We store them only as ciphertext and we cannot read them. Deleting your account deletes that ciphertext according to the rules above; because we never hold the keys, there is no readable copy of your content for us to retain.
